Just got back from a few days up in Berkeley. It's a trip we've done before, staying with friends we love, and it was just great. They have a son Henry's age and a daughter a few years younger so they all hung out together, playing, looking at books, watching movies, etc. Henry even got in some flirting with the little one.
2012 was challenging for our family, what with Katharine's cancer diagnosis/treatment, but I'm proud of how we all did and grateful that so many things went better than I expected. Henry, in particular, has been brave, patient, and loving. I didn't dare guess he would respond to all this upheaval with such aplomb. And hopefully we will be able to put it all behind us soon.
The support the family has received this year in the wake of KG's illness has been overwhelming. Saying "thank you" seems crazily insufficient, but I'm going to do it anyway. So thanks, everyone. You've helped us more than you can know.
